No effect on the Game as the transfer window is still open!!!!!

There were plenty of goals in the past weekend, as the English premier league, The Spanish Primera and Italian calcio. The weekend, had quiet a few upsets, teams that were expected to win did not, and some of the games were just a straight forward for some of the teams. The transfer Saga between the tans continued as some deals were finalized as some were just thrown out. The biggest

Transfer News

Transfer saga between AC Milan from the Italian Calcio and the newly owned Manchester City from the English Premiership over the ex-World Footballer of the Year Kaka was thrown out of the window, even though alot of money was offered by the Arab owner of Manchester City. It could have been a record fee if Kaka would have transferred to Manchester City, but the deal did not come through as the president was not ready to sell his best player. During the whole Kaka fiasco Manchester city were able to sign the talented Dutch Central Midfielder, Nigel De Jong for a good amount of money.
Few weeks ago it seemed that Arshavin, was going to transfer out to Arsenal as he was sick and tired of his home team Zenit St. Peteresburgh. The problem is not the lack of playing time he gets as he's one of the best players in Russia, but the problem of his bad relationship withe the club management and the staff. He has officially announced that if his transfer doesn't go through he shall go on strike and not play for the club. Apparently the most reliable newspaper in England, The Sun, have released a statement that Zenith St. Petersburg have rejected the final offer from Arsenal which was about 15 million euros for the Russian born striker.

Weekend Results and their Consequences

The premiership hosted the FA cup games, not the general league games as they are ahead than the other leagues going around Europe. The FA and the Carling Cup are the only to Cup competitions, where the minor leagues in England get to participate to.
Arsenal, apparently part of the Big Four in England, tied with a lower league team from Wales called Cardiff City. the score was a boring 0-0. Where as Manchester United , apparently the best team in England, were about to lose to one of the worst teams in England Burnsley. As they say the FA Cup and the Carling Cup are known for the small teams taking on the big teams at their level. Giant Killers they call them. The Myerside Derby took place this week, which was between local rivals Everton F.C and Liverpool F.C. Liverpool who were suppose to win, were held to a 1-1 draw second time this year by Everton F.C.

La Liga, the Spanish league was the league which had scored the most goals on the weekend. They started the week with a high note as one of the Spanish Clubs named F.C Barcelona was named as the best club in the last 18 years. They annihilated their opponent newly promoted side Numancia 4-1, as their arch rivals Real Madrid F.C, the royal club of Spain sneaked past Deportivo La Coruna. Big teams like Valencia and Sevilla slipped against smaller teams like Mallorca and Racing Santandar respectively. The latter only playing with 10 men by the way. Local rivals of Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid were held to a draw by mid-table opponents Malaga. Getafe completely destroyed their opponents Sporting de Gijon 5-1 in a 6 goal thriller. The Liga table race is till being led by F.C Barcelona who are 12 points ahead 2nd place Real Madrid. Season is still over but, as the pundits predict, the season might be just be over due to the point difference between first and second place.

Seria A , the italian calcio, was as interesting as the other leauges around Europe. There was a goal fest over there to. With an average of 4 goals scored per game this week. Two of the teams who are situated at the bottom of the league, Chievo and Reggina faced off in a Last man Standing match. Cheivo edged past Reggina, keeping their hope alives for staying in a Seria A. One of the biggest games went down this weekend in the Italian League. JUVENTUS vs FIORENTINA. Two of the biggest teams in the league. Juventus beat Fiorentina 1-0 to stay second in the league 3 points behind League leaders Inter Milan who barely beat Sampodoria. Sampodoria were without there best striker Antonio Cassano, who was out injured where as Inter Milan took the lead with the rejuvenated striker Adriano who was on the verge of leaving the club in the winter transfer window. AS Roma and AC Milan won their games comfortable with a 3 goal lead to stay in the race for the top spot on the table. The biggest upset of the week was Lazio losing to an inexperienced side of Cagiliari which was not expected.

The weekend, was not as exciting as it could have been as most of the results that came out, were expected. The premiership being known for its fast pace game did not showcase a lot of goals as expected, where as the Spanish league showed what its known for. Their finesse, their tactical planning and strategies, the coaches showed their class and kept up their good standing. the Italian league showed its aggression and its brutality and their endless controversies. Hopefully, next weekend, will improve as the premiership will be back on because there are no more cup matches for another month. The leagues are still close and no one is a clear winner yet.
